Introduction of CRE
Background
Centre of Educational Resources is a division of the Education and Youth Development Bureau. The mission of the Center is to supply educational resources to teachers and to enhance overall educational effectiveness.
The Center was previously known as Educational and Pedagogical Support Center. It was formally renamed as Educational Resources Center on December 21, 1992. The Center has been in operation for over 16 years.
Targets
The Center provides services to teachers and staff from non-tertiary and tertiary educational institutions.
Facilities and Services
- provide educational media references and library services;
- support the production of instructional materials;
- lend educational equipments to teachers.
Communication Space
Zizhan Gallery
Zizhan Gallery is a place for education institutes or groups to exhibit their works and collections as well as to share cultural artwork and teaching achievements. Through exhibitions, teaching staff and students can display their creativity and learn from each other to improve visual arts teaching and learning.
Innovative Technology Education Platform
In today’s sci-tech-innovation-oriented society, education should also embrace technology to nurture students to master the use of innovative technology and to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning. Regarding this, the Innovative Technology Education Platform has been established to share with teaching staff some innovative teaching ideas and models, with the aim of nurturing all-round talents for the 21st century.
The platform consists of three areas: Educational Innovation Sharing Area, Digital Teaching Materials Production Area and Audiovisual Teaching Materials Production Area.
Educational Innovation Sharing Area
This is a regular e-learning experience area; it is equipped with teaching facilities and instruments to provide teaching staff with novel teaching plans and allow them to experience in person.
Digital Teaching Materials Production Area
This area provides software and hardware such as computers, scanners, word processing and image processing software, etc. for the production of digital teaching materials; printing and 3D printing services are offered as well.
Audiovisual Teaching Materials Production Area
This area provides video and audio recording software and hardware, audiovisual conversing equipment, digital data duplication equipment and a recording studio for the production of audiovisual teaching materials; various types of audiovisual equipment can be borrowed for use.
Creative Space
Teaching Aids Production Area
Teaching staff can make teaching aids with various kinds of materials and equipment offered here: printers (with colour and black-and-white printing services), projectors, laminators, digital cutting machines, binding machines, paper trimmers and other related tools.
Discovery Horizon
Educational Multimedia Area
Teaching staff can borrow books, multimedia materials and teaching material sets in this area. “Teaching media delivery service” and printing service are offered as well. Teaching staff can also use the computers here to search for teaching information.

Professional Development for teaching staff
With the aims of fostering professional development and improving teaching effectiveness all teaching staff are welcome to join different training activities hosted by the DSEDJ, which include talks, workshops, public lessons, teaching research activities, site visits, exchanges etc. Teachers can apply for the activities via online, fax, telephone or apply in person at the Centre of Educational Resources.

“Teachers’ Chamber” is a web portal specifically designed to provide teaching staff with various kinds of online services, like allowing them to register online, confirm the information of professional development activities, apply for training programmes, check their personal information and rank information, leave comments, receive and send emails, etc.

Award Scheme on Instructional Design
“Award Scheme on Instructional Design” targets at in-service teaching staff, aiming to encourage academic researches and improve their professionalism and teaching quality. All awarded projects are uploaded online and are available in the Educational Multimedia Area for reading and borrowing.

Dynamic Education and Youth
“Dynamic Education and Youth” is an educational television programme that provides educational information to residents. It is broadcasted by TDM Ou Mun from Monday to Saturday between 6:00 and 6:45 pm and is then uploaded to “Dynamic Education and Youth” official page, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram pages.
