1. How to apply for the Scheme and obtain the regulations?
Potential candidate for all categories may log in to the “Teachers’Chamber” and submit the registration online. Please refer to the Award Scheme on Instructional Design website at http://www.dsedj.gov.mo/cre/tplan for the Regulations.
2. Who are eligible to participate in the Scheme?
All teaching staff current in service of formal or recurrent education with valid Teaching Staff’s Card issued by DSEDJ are eligible.
3. How to register online?
Categories of the Award Scheme on Instructional Design 2019/2020:
Individual: Candidates must log in to the Teachers’ Chamber on DSEDJ website in order to register through the system of the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design”.
Group: Contact person of the group must log in to the Teachers’ Chamber on DSEDJ website in order to register through the system of the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design”. Other group members then are required login to the website to confirm such registration in order to complete the process.
School: Candidates must log in to the Teachers’ Chamber on DSEDJ website in order to register through the system of the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design”. The school will verify the registration at the ‘School’s Interactive Zone’. If there is more than one candidate in group, other group members will need to make confirmations on the registration before the recommendation and verification of the school. Each school unit is allowed to submit two registrations for each of Public Class category and Teaching Aids category at most while one for Teaching Achievements category at most.
4. Who is the authoritative person in the school to perform “school” verifications and recommendations?
The school has to fill in the form of ‘Information on operators of the “Schools’ Interactive Zone”’ (DSEDJ-B17) [PDF] [DOC]and apply access to “Application for the Award Scheme on Instructional Design” for designated person(s). Such authorized person of the school can log in to “Schools’ Interactive Zone” (http://www.escola.k12.edu.mo/)and verify the application.
5. What is the registration period?
Registration for the Award Scheme on Instructional Design 2019/2020 starts now until February 7, 2020.
6. After registration, can the information be modified or withdraw the registration?
If the registration status still shows “follow-up”, candidates may still modify or withdraw the registration. Candidates are still able to update their contact number and email address after the assignment of “Entry Number.” Project or group members’ information can be updated through the system of the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design” in “Teachers' Chamber” within given period. (Specific declaration form needs to be filled for change of group member) No change will be allowed after the given period. Candidate(s) has/have to fill in the form online to withdraw his/her registration.
7. How can candidate(s) know about the status of the registrations and submitted projects, and other related information?
Candidate(s) will be notified by email, SMS and through the "Award Scheme on Instructional Design" under Teacher's Chamber Website in case of incomplete or missing documents and information within 30 days of the registration deadline. Candidate(s) are responsible to be aware of the notifications. Candidate(s) must submit all the missing documents and information within specified period.
8. How can candidate(s) modify the information for online registrations?
Candidate(s) has/have to log in to the “Teachers’ Chamber” website. In the system of the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design”, choose “edit” for modifications. Click “modify” to save your changes, and choose “view” to check your updated information.
9. Can the uploaded attachments be replaced or deleted?
Yes. Candidates may log in to the “Teacher’s Chamber” and upload the new
attachments to replace the original one. For deleting attachments, press the “delete”
button.
10. How to know the registration is accepted and how to obtain the entry number?
All candidates will receive a confirmation email for qualified registrations; Candidates have to log in to the “Teachers’ Chamber” website, and the system of the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design” will indicate the entry number for each of your registration, and corresponding submission schedule. For registrations with incomplete information, candidate(s) will receive our notification by email, SMS and through the "Award Scheme on Instructional Design" system, and must submit all missing documents and information within 10 working days of issuance of such notification.
11. How do candidates submit their work?
Candidates need to log in to the “Teachers’ Chamber” and submit their work online through the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design” system.
12. When will the submission period be?
Submission schedule for Award Scheme on Instructional Design 2019/2020 as follows:
Lesson Plan (Unit) and Teaching aids: 15/06/2020 to 30/06/2020
Lesson Plan (Theme) and Public Class: 01/07/2020 to 15/07/2020
Lesson Plan (Academic year), Pedagogical Research and Teaching Achievements: 16/07/2020 to 31/07/2020
13. Is it necessary for candidates to put their lesson plans into practice?
Yes, candidates are required to put their lesson plan into practice before submission. Documents to be submitted include: teaching schedule, evaluation of the teaching practice, reflections and suggestions, etc.
14. Under what circumstances should candidates notify DSEDJ and withdraw the registration from the Scheme?
Candidates should notify DSEDJ to withdraw the registration when a subsidy or an application of award has been made to different units and such subsidy or award is granted before the results of the Scheme are announced.
15. Under what circumstances will candidates be disqualified and the awards granted be deprived?
Violation of the following conditions is deemed not complying with the provisions of the Regulation. Depending on the decision of the Evaluation Committee and the degree of such violation, DSEDJ may disqualify the candidate from the Scheme. Awards granted will be deprived and with retroactive effect.
  1. It is forbidden to use any data or material that infringe intellectual property rights;
  2. Works must be original and have never been presented, awarded or published before;
  3. Works that were evaluated by DSEDJ before cannot be submitted again even if they are revised or rearranged.
  4. Dissertation or thesis of any kind will not be accepted in Pedagogical Research category.
16. Can the name of candidates or school appear in the project?
No. Names of candidate(s) and schools, or any other details, characteristics, or codes that indicate or provide clues on candidates’ identity, must be concealed on the submitted work for Lesson Plan, Pedagogical Research and Teaching Achievement categories. Violation will result in a grading penalty on “Accuracy and rigorousness,” and for serious offence, candidate(s) may be disqualified and all awards granted may be deprived.
17. What information should be included in the cover?
Cover page must include the name of the Scheme - “Award Scheme on Instructional Design 2019/2020”, the name of the project, category, sub-category (if applicable), entry number, subject (except Pedagogical Research), educational type and stage (except Pedagogical Research), individual or group work and the grade that the work is targeted for.
18. What are the format requirements for submitted works?
All documents should be saved in one single WORD file and PDF file (A4 size, portrait orientation, horizontal writing, page number at bottom right corner of the page). For the format of the documents, please refer to the “File Format Template” posted on the Award Scheme on Instructional Design website at http://www.dsedj.gov.mo/cre/tplan.
19. What informtaion should be included when submitting the work?
Requirements (File size limits: 1Gb of compressed file for “Teaching Achievement,” 700 Mb for other categories):
  1. Copyright declaration: All candidates must make Copyrights Declaration via the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design” system by logging in the Teachers’ Chamber Website. Any candidate or group who fail to complete the declaration will be disqualified.
  2. List of work components: Fill in the form on the“Award Scheme on Instructional Design” system.
  3. Digital document (Single DOC and PDF file):
    1. Lesson Plan: cover page, introduction, table of contents, lesson schedule, lesson plan, evaluations and reflective suggestions of the trial lesson, bibliography and other related teaching materials.
    2. Pedagogical Research Paper: cover page, abstract, table of contents, introduction, literature review, methodology and process, research outcome and discussions, conclusions and suggestions, as well as bibliography.
    3. Teaching Achievement: cover page, an introduction on the achievements, table of contents, research contents and implementation of the achievements, methodology and process, innovative ideas borne by the achievements, application of the achievements, effects and reflections, photos and videos of the achievements, bibliography as well as related teaching materials and documents.
    4. An operation manual for Teaching Aids: cover page, introduction, table of contents, lesson plan, illustrations of its production and operation, photos of the teaching aid (8 or more multi-dimensional photos), bibliography, related teaching materials such as textbooks, etc.
    5. Public Lesson: cover page, introduction, table of contents, Lesson Plan, teaching evaluation, reflective suggestions, bibliography, related teaching resources, such as teaching materials, textbooks, etc.
    6. For the format of the documents, please refer to the “File Format Template” posted on the Award Scheme on Instructional Design website at http://www.dsedj.gov.mo/cre/tplan.
  4. Other digital files:
    For Lesson Plan, Teaching Achievement, Teaching Aids and Public Lesson, materials that need to be uploaded must include:
    1. Related supplementary teaching materials (photos, courseware, tools and multi-media teaching resources etc.).
    2. For projects of visual arts discipline, drafts/sketches (with descriptions about the ideas or thoughts) and the finished works of students must be submitted.
    3. For Teaching Aids:
      1. Operation video: an illustration of its operation (with subtitles in the corresponding language used in the written text of the work).
      2. Demonstration video: a video recording the application of the teaching aid(s) in a real lesson.
      3. Resolution of the video should be at least 720 x 576 pixels, with no more than 15 min (in WMV or MP4 format), compatible with Windows 7, and with clear images and sound.
20. How to indicate the descriptor numbers of the “Requirements of Basic Academic Attainments”?
Descriptions of how the work has fulfilled the “Requirements of Basic Academic Attainments” of related discipline(s) (by indicating the educational stage, discipline(s) and descriptor numbers) are required. The work may cover some or all descriptors of one discipline. The work may also be cross-disciplinary. Official copy of the “Requirements of Basic Academic Attainments” for each educational stage can be found and downloaded on the Imprensa Oficial website (www.io.gov.mo) or The Curriculum Development website (http://www.dsedj.gov.mo/crdc).
21. Are registrations under the name of school unit allowed for “Public Lesson” category and what are the available options?
Yes. With reference to the Regulations, registration for “Public Lesson” category should be made under “school unit.” A maximum of 2 registrations for each school unit is allowed. Contact person of the group registers via the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design” system by logging in the Teachers’ Chamber Website. The school makes recommendation and verification of such registration at the “School’s Interactive Zone.” Applicable education levels and disciplines: infant education, primary Chinese, primary English, primary Mathematics, secondary Chinese, secondary English, secondary Mathematics.
22. Are candidates required to submit classroom factual record for “Public Lesson”?
No. Instead, candidate(s) of Public Lesson are required to make public presentations and demonstrations of their work as well as to stand in front of the panel of judges for oral defense at the Evaluation Session. Date (tentatively between November and December 2020), time and venue of the Evaluation Session are to be announced.
23. Are registrations under the name of school unit allowed for “Teaching Aids” category?
Yes. Registration method is the same as “Public Lesson” category.
24. Is there any size limitation for Teaching Aids?
Yes. According to the Regulations, dimensions should not exceed 230cm (H) x 190cm (W) x 50cm (D).
25. Are computer software eligible for“Teaching Aids”category?
No. The work must be a physical tool but may involve electronic or IT components.
26. What are operation video and demonstration video in “Teaching Aids” category?
An operation video is an illustration of its operation (with subtitles in the corresponding language used in the written text of the work) while a demonstration video is a video recording the application of the teaching aid(s) in a real lesson. Resolution of the video should be at least 720 x 576 pixels, with no more than 15 min (in WMV or MP4 format), compatible with Windows 7, and with clear images and sound.
27. What are the applicable educational stages for “Teaching Aids” category?
Candidates may register their work under secondary, primary or infant education for “Teaching Aids” category.
28. What are the qualifications for “Teaching Achievements” category?
  1. The work must align with the education direction and policies of the Macao SAR; embody the spirit of cultivating people and the spirit of the times; provide solutions to existing difficulties and future challenges in education and teaching; as well as propose new scientific ideas, methods and measures that can be applied and proved to have significant effects on uplifting education standards and quality. The work is also a model of the school and represents important achievements on education reform and practical exploration. Scope of the work may involve curriculum, teaching, evaluation, resource building etc.
  2. The length of implementation and research should not be less than 2 or 4 full academic years.
29. Is “Award of Information Technology Application” limited to candidates whose work is in IT subject?
No. As long as the lesson plan shows appropriate integrations of IT application into the lessons, makes good use of IT to develop innovative teaching resources, or allow students to apply IT and the Internet to carry out project research or collaborative learning etc., works with any of these IT elements or similar degree of IT application are eligible for the Award. This IT award is dependent on the main category and is optional. Evaluation will be based on the work for the main category, i.e., no additional work to be submitted. Candidates may check corresponding box on the registration form to indicate the enrollment in the IT Award evaluation.
30. Beside “Award of Information Technology Application”, is there any other optional award?
Yes. Candidates may also enroll in the evaluation for “Award of Emotional Attachments to Home and Country.”
31. For “Award of Information Technology Application” and “Award of Emotional Attachments to Home and Country,” do I need to provide addition information?
Yes. Candidates are required to complete the “IT tools and strategy applied” and/or “Related ideas on ‘Emotional Attachments to Home and Country’” sections on the registration form respectively.
32. At the registration stage, in addition to provide the relevant information of the work, what other procedures must be followed before the work can be submitted for review?
The contact person and all team members of the work must click two items with their own account through the registration system:
  1. I hereby confirm that I have carefully read the regulations of the “Award Scheme on Instructional Design” and we agree to assume all related obligations and responsibilities.
  2. 《Measures for Personal Data Protection》
    I hereby agree the relevant staff of DSEDJ to handle the project(s) of “Award Scheme on Instructional Design”. I declare all the personal information submitted by me, including the personal information of the entrant and the information of other people being mentioned in the project documents, if any; in this situation, the entrant needs to declare that the related parties have agreed DSEDJ to handle their personal information, including transferring it to the areas outside Macao for evaluations of judges.
33. How do candidates locate the past awarded projects for reference?
Please visit the Award Scheme on Instructional Design website at http://www.dsedj.gov.mo/cre/tplan for the latest information about the Scheme, browse and download part of the collection of introduction and project. For reading or borrowing the projects, please visit Educational Multimedia Room on the 3rd floor of Centre of Educational Resources during opening hours (Mondays to Fridays 10:30 – 19:00 and Saturdays 9:30 – 13:00 and 14:00 – 17:40).
34. Where can I find the list of awardees?
DSEDJ will mail out official letter to awardees of Award Scheme on Instructional Design - 2019/2020. The list of awardees will also be uploaded on the Award Scheme on Instructional Design website (http://www.dsedj.gov.mo/cre/tplan).
35. Are there any obligations for awardees?
Yes. All awardees are obliged to participate in the promotion and sharing activities related to the Scheme that are organised by DSEDJ.
36. When will be the cash prizes awarded?
Cash prizes will be awarded from 2021 Q4 in the form of bank transfer to the candidate’s bank accounts for receiving professional development subsidy (for private school teaching staff) or the bank accounts for receiving remuneration (for public school teaching staff). Awardees will be notified at the time cash prizes are released.
